Clonnie Wayne “Griz” Akins, 80, of Casper, Wyoming passed away on January 14, 2024, in Casper, Wyoming.
Clonnie was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Clonnie Akins and Hazel Arubutus Akins (Mings) on July 11, 1943. He went to Southeast High School in Oklahoma City, OK and graduated in 1961. He went on to serve in the US Army from 1969-1973. He was stationed in Fort Jackson, SC, 2 years in Hanau, Germany and 2 years in Pirmasens, Germany, where he met his wife of almost 50 years, and was honorably discharged. After serving in the US Army, he continued his work as an oilfield machinist at Acme Tool in Oklahoma City, OK and Casper, WY, Brown Oil Tool on the North Slope of Alaska, Wyoming Pipe and Tool in Casper, WY and the last 12 years of his career was spent at Graco Fishing and Rental Tools as a Rocky Mountain Regional Salesman and retired in August 2015. Clonnie enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and watching his beloved Oklahoma Sooners (Boomer). I could tell you stories, however we would be here for a long, long time.
Clonnie is survived by his wife, Ingeborg Akins (Stoffel) of Casper, WY. Son Marcus Bruckner (Laura) of Rolling Hills, Wy. Daughter Misty Lasater (Dave) of Tuttle, OK. Son Wayne Akins of Tuttle, OK. Aunt Sandy Mings of Longdale, OK. Grandchildren Shayd Akins, Rhianna Halley and Zachary Adels, 3 great grandchildren and sister Sandra Kay Creason of Oklahoma City, OK, as well as several friends. He is also survived by his beloved little girl Bella (Dog). He is preceded in death by his parents and Uncle Joe Mings.
Clonnie will be missed by his loving wife, his son Marcus and wife Laura and of course Bella, as well as the many friends he met throughout his life.
A service of Military Honors will be held on Monday January 22, 2024, at 11 am at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. The family will have a celebration of life for Clonnie in May of 2024.
