Cletis Lack

Cletis Paul Lack, 90, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family in his home on July 26th, 2018. Cletis also known as Clete was born on January 13th, 1928 in Uva, Wyoming. He went to high school in Guernsey, where he was the football quarterback and had a real love for the game. He graduated from Guernsey High School in May of 1945. After High School Clete served honorably in the Navy for 6 years as a Fireman First Class Machinist. During his Naval service he deployed during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines. He frequently talked about his experience and his time abroad. After returning to civilian life, Clete got a job at Texaco where he worked for 37 years, where he eventually retired. Shortly after his return from the military, Clete married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Betty Jean (Ackerman) Lack on October 8th, 1950 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Clete and Betty shared 58 years of marriage, life, and love together; during that time they had three beautiful daughters, Linda Marvel, Karen Mosher, and Connie Rack. Cletis was baptized May 11th, 1958. Clete truly was a man of loyalty, hard work, compassion, and empathy. He loved his family so intensely. He always put his family first. He was always quick to lend a helping hand, get family members together, and help out where he could. He did for his neighbors as he did for his family. His neighborhood was brought together as a community because of Cletis. He truly cared for everyone around him. He lived by the Golden Rule, and he truly embodied all that is good of human qualities. Everyone that knew him knew he was a man with a profound sense of kindness, loyalty, modesty, and respect. His presence was immeasurable and vast, and it's something that will always be remembered. Clete had his private pilot license, and loved flying his personal Cessna airplane. He loved playing golf, where he got a hole-in-one at the age of 83; he was smitten over the feat and claimed "it's never too late". He was a lifetime member of the Casper Elks Lodge. He loved hunting, fishing, bowling, and dancing. He was always listening to his country music, and was always happy to two-step when given the chance. He was a man that loved working with his hands; he could repair anything. He had more work ethic than most. Even after 90, he was still climbing ladders to fix things, and always wanting to mow his lawn and shovel snow, or repair anything that was broken. He was proactive, and was always engaged with his surroundings and the people around him. He loved to be on the move, because there was always something that he could be doing, something that could be fixed, or someone he could help. He truly was the most inspirational man, if you were blessed enough to meet him. Clete really was one of a kind in his actions. A gentleman at heart and by default. He always opened the door for women and men, walked on the outside of the sidewalk for women, and open car doors. He was a man of his time. The world truly lost a soul that was so kind and caring. He was a once in a lifetime type of man. Leaving a mark of significance on everyone that knew him. He is survived by his sister Marilyn Stephenson of Casper, WY; his daughters Linda Marvel spouse Bill Marvel of Casper and Connie Rack spouse Gary Rack of Cincinnati; his grandchildren Paul Marvel spouse Novella Marvel, Laura Marvel, Shannon Blume spouse Rich Blume, Cody Rack spouse Amy Rack, Kevin Rack, Mandi Mosher; and his 11 great grandchildren. Cletis is preceded by his parents Alice (Beran) Butner and his father Joseph Lack; his wife Betty Lack, his daughter Karen Mosher, and his sister's Josephine, Katherine, and Mildred. Cletis' services will be held on July 31st, 2018, at 11 am at the Paradise Valley Christian Church. His Grandson Pastor Paul Marvel will be officiating his service; he will also have a military honors at his funeral for his dedication to our country. A reception will follow. Anyone who Cletis had an impression on is welcome to attend his service, as is any fellow active or discharged servicemen. Beloved father, great grandfather, husband, brother, and friend to all, you will be deeply missed. Your legacy is one to be remembered as you inspired, loved, and cared so deeply. You truly left this world a better place. Forever in our hearts.
