Clarice "Lolly" Mae (Krieg) Copen passed into her loving Father's arms surrounded by her family on November 1, 2014. Lolly, as she liked to be called, was born in Chicago, IL on March 12, 1928. She and her family later moved to Charleston, WV. She attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV, studying elementary education. She met her husband, James D. Copen, Sr., there. On June 20, 1946 they eloped to Pomeroy, OH. They moved to Morgantown, WV, where Jim completed his degree in Geology at West Virginia University. They returned to Huntington where they welcomed two sons, James D. Copen, Jr.(Jim) and Robert Etzel Copen (Rob). After living in Ashland, KY they moved to Billings, MT, following the emerging energy boom in the West. There they welcomed son William Frederick Copen (Fred). They moved to Casper where daughter Jennifer Louise (Copen) Duncan was born. Lolly and Jim were longtime members of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, where Jim served as an Elder. Lolly was active in the PTAs at her children's schools, Geo Wives, gourmet cooking club, investment club, and was a member of several bridge clubs. She worked evenings as a receptionist at H & R Block during tax season. She and Jim shared a love for music, particularly opera, and she was a voracious reader and lifelong learner. She enjoyed the company of her family, particularly her grandchildren. She was incredibly intelligent, wise, loving and always had a kind word for everybody. Her joyful spirit and love of life, amongst all her other wonderful qualities, will be sorely missed. She is preceded in death by her husband James D. Copen, Sr., parents William F. and Mildred Krieg, son William Frederick Copen and grandson Jeremy Roy Conrad. She is survived by her sons, Jim (Sally) and Rob (Dixie) Copen; daughter Jennifer Duncan (Scott); grandchildren Jason (Christina) Copen of Olympia, WA; Ashley Copen (Paul) of Seattle, WA; Dave Cieslar of Riverton; Sam Jones (Riverton); Robin Lee of Denver; April Mesa; Matthew Conrad of Casper; Amanda Duncan of Denver, CO; Regina Duncan of Laramie, WY; Joyanne (Duncan) Knight of Denver; and Nicholas Woolman of Valparaiso, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice. Bustard's Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
