Christina Fern Maguire, of Douglas, WY, passed away at the age of 44 on November 20, 2016 at hospice in Casper WY, after a long and difficult illness. Christina is preceded in death by her parents, Frank James and Lucille Irene Maguire. She is survived by her sister, Georgianna (Ruben) Hernandez Lopez, her brother Glenn (Jodi) Maguire and nephew Marvin, all of Douglas. On August 5th 1972 Christina was born in Douglas to Frank Maguire of Lance Creek and Lucille (Horton) Maguire of Douglas. Christina spent her first year on the Hansen Ranch, where her parents worked, just north of Lusk. In 1973 the Maguire's moved to Chalk Buttes just south of Douglas. Christina was proud to be a third-generation Douglasite. She loved living in our beautiful town with the many beautiful people that she loved so much. She felt lucky to be able to grow and live in a town where her family roots went deep and she could see her families influence all around her. In 1986 young Christina, had an accident in her family's very new daycare center and was diagnosed with a severe nerve disorder now known as RSD. This disorder caused Christina to spend the last 30 years of her life in severe pain. After overcoming surgeries and treatments in her battle to keep her independence she was forced into a wheelchair before the age of 30. However Christina never let her frustration with her body get the best of her, she refused to let it change who she was or get the best of her. Despite her pain Christina continued to work and was very involved in the family daycare center till it closed in 1990. In those years Christina met and fell in love with many children and parents who turned into lifelong friends and family. Afterwards she worked at Renee's Carousel Flowers and became lifelong friends with her boss Renee. By the time that Renee closed her doors Christina's pain was too much and it was her last job, but that didn't slow her down. Christina always had a smile on her face for anyone that she came across. Whether it was a friend from long ago, a family member or a complete stranger, she loved everyone the moment she met them. Christina had a beautiful way of seeing the very best in everyone and her beautiful smile will be missed by all of those that loved her. Because of this it would be impossible to list all of the people that she considered family, because there were so very, very many. It didn't matter if you were related by blood or related by heart, she loved all of the people that made her life more colorful. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the American Legion in Douglas. There will be a viewing at the American Legion one hour prior to the start of services. Interment will be at the Douglas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to Bustard's Funeral Home or Christina Maguire Memorial Fund at Converse County Bank.
