Christena Smith

Christena Marie Smith passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012. After battling colon cancer for five years, she died in her home surrounded by loved ones. Her family and friends remember her as a beautiful person full of light and God's love. Christena was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 26, 1960. She graduated from Natrona County High School in 1978. In 1980, Tena graduated from Casper College with an Associate of Science degree in Elementary Education. She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1988. She held various jobs including receptionist and substitute teacher; but she .devoted her life to raising her daughter and looking after her parents. Tena enjoyed sewing, cooking, teaching her daughter, learning about her computer and swimming. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with her grandson, Bridger. Tena had a remarkable singing voice and used it to sing God's praises. Tena is survived by her mother, Gladys Gras of Casper, Wyoming; her daughter, Abigail, son-in-law, Tyler, and her grandson, Bridger Tille, of Casper Wyoming; her sister, Linda France of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her brother, Fred Gras of Round Rock, Texas; and her sister, Jennifer Orrell of Frisco, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Sidney J. Gras, and her grandparents. Services celebrating her memory will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church downtown with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name at First United Methodist Church and Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions or Child Evangelism Fellowship, P. O. Box 2593, Casper, WY 82602.
