Charles Donald Wright Senior (Don), passed away at his home in Douglas on August 19, 2015. Don, a World War II Veteran, was born in Seymour, Indiana on September 4, 1918. Drafted into the Army Air Corp in 1943, he trained to be a pilot for the newly formed US Army Air Corp. His entire class "washed out" following Victory in Europe and Don never saw combat. Whilestill on active duty, he ferried aircraft to their graveyards following the war and worked with a crew to rebuild a German Messerschmitt that now hangs in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Don spent his life in the field of aviation including time as a mechanic, flight instructor, and as a crop duster. In the mid 1960's Don went to work for the FAA where he remained until he retired as GADO Chief of the FAA's office in Helena, Montana. He and his wife Sylvia moved to Douglas to live near their son Charles Donald Wright Junior following his retirement from the FAA. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling to visit his children and grandchildren. He attended Frontier Baptist Church and was a former member of Gideon's International. He is survived by his seven children Carol Wright Davis of Bozeman, Montana; Betty Wright Bricker of Sandpoint Idaho; Sharon Wright Shearman of Bozeman, Montana; Charlotte Wright Watts of Bismarck, North Dakota; Linda Wright Plaster of Sandpoint, Idaho; Charles Donald Wright Junior of Douglas, Wyoming; Gayle Wright Hustad of Kissimmee, Florida and 31 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 on the afternoon of September 5th at the Frontier Baptist Church on 2345 East Richards Street. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to The Gideon's International.
