Charlene Dunlap

October 10, 1932 — June 6, 2017

Charlene Shadley Dunlap, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Tuesday night June 6th, 2017 at the age of 84. She was born in Oklahoma on October 10, 1932 to Henry and Mayme Shadley. She grew up in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl years, before settling in Wyoming. She worked a variety of jobs. She was a weather girl in Casper where her energy and friendliness captivated audiences in the 60's. Many folks still recognize her for that today. She also worked at Farm Bureau and Coe Library at the University of Wyoming. She began work in 1974 with Senator Gale McGee and moved her family to Greenbelt, MD. There, she focused on trying to find missing GI's in Southeast Asia (and the best crab cakes )! After moving the family to Las Vegas, she worked in real estate and on the Las Vegas Strip. She loved every pig-related knickknack and seemed to have friends everywhere. She rarely let pass an opportunity to chat with strangers or make new friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and best friend Joan. Char continued to work tirelessly almost to the end of her life. She is survived by her son Jim and daughter Wendy, and their families. Honoring Charlene's wishes, there will be a private service. All memorials may be sent to the Casper Humane Society in her name.
