Cecilia Maria Arellano passed away Wednesday March 15th, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 17th, 1935 in Amalia, New Mexico to Emitelio and Ramoncita (Vallejos) Salazar. She was the youngest of nine children. She graduated in 1954 from Costilla High School in Costilla, NM. She decided to attend college in Casper, WY where she met her future husband John Arellano.
She married the love of her life, John Ben Arellano on October 26, 1956. They made their home in Casper, WY and had five wonderful children: Jennie, Gilbert, Emitelio (Butch), Joanne and John Jr. She worked at Control Data, and then Buttery's, before retiring and then going back to work part time at Walmart.
Cecilia loved spending time with her 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She loved to quilt, crochet, visit with her family in Colorado, New Mexico, Georgia, and Washington, travel and garden.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John, siblings: Jesusita, Emilia, Cipriano, Clara, Erminia, and Antonita, son-in-law, Tim Sheely, grandchildren: Jesse Arellano and Adam Arellano, and her parents: Emitelio and Ramoncita Salazar.
She is survived by her children and their families: Jennie (Doug) Heidrich, Gilbert (Janice) Arellano, Butch (Cindy) Arellano, Joanne Sheely, John Jr., siblings: Elias Salazar and Ida Cisneros, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home at 1 PM on Sunday the 19th. The funeral will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 2 PM on Monday the 20th.
