Cecil Bright

Cecil Wayne Bright, age 79, of Casper passed peacefully in his home on November 28, 2017, surrounded by his family. Cecil was born on November 18, 1938, in Thermopolis, WY to Cecil Glenn Bright and Hazel Agnes Sparks Englehart. At the age of 17, Cecil joined the United States Air Force where he became a Ground Radar Systems specialist. During his time in the military he received many awards including several Good Conduct Medals and the Meritorious Service Medal which he received with great honor and held in high regard. One of his proudest achievements in the Air Force was his assignment to the 59th Fighter Squadron at Goose Bay Air Base in Labrador, Canada. During that time he was assigned to work on the radar system for the F-102 Delta Dagger during the William Tell Top Gun competition. With his dedication and precision to the radar system, the pilot of the F-102 was able to achieve a perfect score during the 1961 competition. From Canada he was stationed in Glasgow, MT where on January 7, 1966, he married his soul mate, Charla Wilma Grace Cokewell. Together they had four children. After retiring from the USAF in 1977, Cecil and Charla moved their family to Casper, WY where Cecil worked for the Burroughs Corporation (Unisys) as a computer engineer until he retired in 1998. Cecil is survived by his wife Charla, daughters Heather (Scott) Brimer, AZ; Kelly (Curtiss) Heaton, TN; Karin, WY; and his son Charles (Laura) Bright, WY; grandchildren Ryelee, Ashlinn, Ethan, Alexandria, Gavin, Stefanie, Jamie, and one great-granddaughter Sofie. He was preceded in his death by his parents, many aunts and uncles, his sister Gloria Johnson, and brother Terry Bright. Not only was Cecil a loving husband, father, and a great provider for his family; he was an incredible role model, friend, and inspiration to many. He instilled in his family a love for the outdoors as he was an avid hunter who could often be found scouting the Red Desert; as well as a passionate fisherman who never missed opening day on the Yellowstone River with a fly rod in hand. Some of his other hobbies included camping, rock hounding, reading, and playing poker. Cecil was also well known amongst family and friends as not only a great cook but an exceptional master of the kitchen; a passion he enjoyed immensely. Because of his love of food and his desire to make sure no one ever went hungry in his presence; the family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to food banks in the area so no one will go hungry over the holidays. Per Cecil's request, no services will be held.
