Catherine (Kay) Mullin, peacefully passed on January 12, 2018 with her loving family at her side at the ripe age of 94. She was very proud of that 94!!! A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Casper with Fr. Hugo L. Blotsky O.S.B. officiating. Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the church. Inurnment will be at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville at 1:00 PM. Catherine was born on June 14, 1923 to Elizabeth and Benedict Walz in Mahnomen, Minnesota. She attended St. Michael's grade school, graduating from Mahnomen High School in 1942. She continued her education in nursing at St. Gabriel's School of nursing in Little Falls, Minnesota in 1945. Kay did not think she was graduating because everyone had gotten a diploma but her. Her mother had gotten her diploma sent to herself as a surprise for Christmas for Kay. Boy, was Kay relieved!!! Nursing and her family were always her priorities. Kay moved to Casper in October 1947. She went to work at Natrona County Memorial Hospital (WMC). From 1957 till 1980 Kay worked as an R.N. Then Kay worked as an R. N. Supervisor of the E.R. until her retirement at the age of 62. Kay met the love of her life, Joseph, thru a blind date set up by her sister Lucille. One date was not enough; they were married May 21, 1951. During her married life they enjoyed fishing, hunting, rock hunting, crocheting, embroidering and bowling. Kay was especially proud of her bowling in 1951. Kay bowled for the "New" Wonder Bar and the team placed first in the Women's State Tournament in Riverton. What an accomplishment. She also taught her daughters how to embroider at a very young age; neither one were interested in crocheting since mom could do it!!! After retiring, she still bowled, counted cross stitch, daily cross word puzzles in the newspaper, jigsaw puzzles and gambling at the casinos (one of her favorite activities). Kay enjoyed going to mass every day at St. Anthony's Church. She also thoroughly enjoyed the fish fry's done by her son-in-law, Dan, celebrating everyone's birthday, wedding anniversary and all seasonal holidays. Kay always made everyone's favorite dessert for the celebrations. Kay was always spotted at all the grandchildren's sporting events. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, five brothers, Chris, Louis, Al and Joe of Mahnomen, Minnesota and Tony of Fargo, North Dakota; three sisters, Eleanor of Mahnomen; Lucille of Casper and Tina of Beuna Park, California. Kay is survived by her sister Tecla (Pat) Trijuillo of Casper; two daughters, Connie (Dan) Hemminger and Linda Laeng of Casper. One son, John (Jack)(Caryn) Mullin of Logan, Utah. Her grandchildren, Micheala Fortune, Melanie Wock, Josh Mullin of Casper, Daniel Hemminger II of Alpine, Wyoming and Jeremy Mullin of Logan, Utah. Kay's pride and joys, her great grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon, Morgan Berg, Bailee and Brooklyn Mullin of Casper; Jaden and Amber Mullin of Shepherd, Texas and Colton Mullin of Joliet, Montana. Kay's favorite colors were purple and yellow. Her children would love to see these colors at the services. In lieu of flowers, the family would like the donations be made to the Senior Center or St. Anthony's Building Fund. .
