Carol Terry

December 25, 1933 — July 4, 2018

Carol Elaine McClure Terry, 84, of Casper, WY passed away on July 4, 2018 She was born December 25, 1933 in Hartford, Connecticut; daughter of Winthrop and Leona McClure. She grew up in Hartford and graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Joseph's College in June 1955 and was inducted into the Kappa Gamma Pi National Scholastic and Activity Honor Society of Catholic Women's Colleges. She began her career in 1956 teaching Home Economics at Windsor's Junior-Senior High School. She married in 1957 and had six children. During the early years of her marriage, she moved her ever growing family from Hartford to Scottsdale, Arizona to Stony Brook Long Island, New York to North Palm Beach, Florida to Asbury Park, New Jersey to Santa Ana, California. The family finally settled in southern California and Carol remained there until she retired in 1995. During the 1970's she worked as a school photographer, shuttled all 6 of her children to unending swim practices and attended countless swim meets and water polo games, and served as a Girl Scout leader. In 1980 she returned to school at Santa Ana College to earn her second degree in Pharmacy Technology while simultaneously working nights in the pharmacy at Western Medical Center. After graduating, she continued working as a pharmacy technician and would eventually go to design the training program for incoming pharmacy technicians. She also returned to Santa Ana College to teach Pharmacy Technology while still working as a pharmacy technician. She retired from Western Medical Center in 1995 and moved to Casper, WY to be closer to her daughter Dawn and her family. Shortly after moving to Casper, she joined St. Anthony's Parish where she remained a dedicated member for the rest of her life. She spent her retirement volunteering with Retired Senior Volunteer Program, American Cancer Society and Senior Sidewalkers. In 1996, she founded an organization called Caps for Kids as a companion to the Coats for Kids program. It is a group that knits caps for children around Wyoming; the organization continues to today. She loved hiking in the mountains, knitting, the Symphony, theater and reading. Most of all she loved her family; she ran out of places in her home to put pictures of her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. She is survived by her six children: Paul Terry, Tampa FL; Kevin Terry, Paso Robles, CA; Gregory Terry, Paso Robles, CA; Dawn Reney, Casper, WY; Mark Terry, Mission Viejo, CA; Christopher Terry, Centennial, CO; and one brother, Gregory McClure.
