Carol E. Skjonhaug, 76, quietly passed on September 9th, 2016 at Shepherd of the Valley in Casper, WY. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 4-6 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 6 pm, at which time guests will be invited to share their memories. Carol was born October 20th, 1939 to Arne Rudolph Skjonhaug and Doris Olsen Skjonhaug in Casper. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clifford, and his sisters Carolyn and Christy. He is survived by his sister Charlotte Kolb, his daughters Janette Elder and Cindy Vigesaa, and his grandchildren TJ and Tiger Vigesaa. Carol had a colorful and full life working as a carpenter, and belonged to the Casper Carpenter's Union, Local 1564. While he enjoyed his craft and took tremendous pride in the finished product, what he relished most was being outdoors, and doing anything that involved working with his hands. From an early age he learned to hunt and fish, and prided himself on being self-sufficient. He loved cooking over a campfire and often reminisced about eating "brookies", seasoned with a little lemon pepper and salt, was the best thing he'd ever tasted. Carol was known for being able to fix and repair things. In fact, he may have been the original recycler. His many friends brought items to him from far and wide and asked if he "might" be able to fix them. Never wanting to be wasteful, and never knowing when he might be able to use a block of wood for this, or scrap of metal for that, he saved every last thing he found. Always creative in his pursuits, he reused virtually everything, and through his tenacity and willfulness, never gave up until something was fixed. After retirement he made model cars, lawn chairs, repaired and made knives and refurbished guns. Carol had a big appetite for life and never lost his passion to learn or try new things. He was always up for an adventure, and was always ready to "go". He will be deeply missed, and never forgotten. Memorial donations in Carol's name may be made to the Casper Humane Society.
