Carol Ann Cripe (Horton) passed away at home in Casper, Wyoming surround by her loving family on March 20, 2025, following a short illness. We lost a loved one, but heaven gained a fierce angel that won’t back down from anyone. Carol was never one to leave someone wondering where she stood on an issue. She was always a great mother, wife, aunt, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all. Carol had the biggest heart, always prioritizing her family’s best interests. Too many times, she dropped everything, at a moment’s notice, to help a loved one.
Carol was born in Casper, Wyoming on July 21, 1949, the daughter of Linford J. Horton and Ruby L. Horton (Myers). She was raised and educated in Casper, Wyoming and graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1967. Upon graduation, she started her most important role, bringing four children into the world. In 1974 Carol relocated to Douglas, Wyoming where she lived and raised her four children on her own, while working in the retail industry. It was in Douglas that she met the love of her life, Richard D. Cripe Sr. Carol and Richard married on April 12, 1980, embarking on a loving marriage that lasted 35 years, until the passing of Richard in 2015.
Carol loved crafts, from making Afghan's to sewing Christmas stocking for every family member, whether they were two or four legged. She was always up to reading a good book or listening to one. Make no mistake, Carol was always up for dropping a dollar or two in the slot machines, hoping to strike it big. Most of all, Carol enjoyed the company of her family and friends, near and far.
Carol was survived by her children, Richard R. (Paula) Cripe of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Timothy J. (Kirsten) Cripe of Islip, New York, Tiffany J. (Ali) Khan of Nephi, Utah and Heather D. (Alivn) Kohm of Casper, Wyoming, and Brother Ron Horton of Casper, Wyoming; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Richard D. Cripe Sr., parents Linford and Ruby Horton, and sister Linda Porter.
The family has entrusted Bustards and Jacoby with her cremation arrangements. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Memorial Gardens.
