Candace Allen

Candace Sophie Mirjam Allen passed away on December 23, 2010 at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center after being a resident there since 2003. Candace was born in Kansas City, MO on March 27, 1925, the daughter of Oscar and Alice Johnson. Candace and her family then moved to Crystal Bay, Minnesota. She graduated from Wayzata High school in 1943. After high school she attended the University of Minnesota, Hamlin University, and Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming. She married Virgil G. Allen on September 20, 1947. In 1958 Candace and Virgil moved to Riverton, Wyoming where they raised their family. While in Riverton, Candace was employed by Susquehanna Western, First National Bank, and the business department at Central Wyoming College. In 1972 Candace moved to Aspen, CO and became Vice President of First National Bank of Aspen. Later she worked for Wildwood Food Program and then continued working with the program in Denver, CO. In Denver, Candace was later employed by Colorado Management and enjoyed several years working for that company. After a fall in 2003, Candace moved to Casper, WY so she could be near family and spent her remaining years in relatively good health at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center. Throughout her life Candace had many interests and hobbies and traveled extensively. During the past 8 years, Candace has enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and the staff at Shepherd. Candace was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Gregory Scott Allen of Aspen, CO and her late husband, Virgil G.Allen of Aspen, CO. Candace is survived by her son Douglas G. Allen and his wife, Nancy J. Allen of Medicine Bow, WY, her granddaughter, Daryl Meghan Allen Amador of Casper, WY, her daughter Leslie White and granddaughter Genelle White of Atlanta, GA. A memorial service will be held at 2:00, Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Casper, WY, with Chaplain Marvin Skogen and Reverend Jack Damien officiating. Cremation has already taken place. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Casper. Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice.
