Cal Smith

June 15, 1976 — July 31, 2015

Cal Mathew Smith, 39, of Casper, WY, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 31, 2015. Cal was born in Beach, ND on June 15, 1976 to Daniel "Dan" Smith and Shree Saye. In Cal's short lifetime he accomplished great things while creating beautiful memories and lasting relationships. Cal welcomed his first daughter, Kaylee, in November 1998 with Stefanie Ireland. After pursuing Autumn for 5 years he finally married the love of his life on January 18, 2002. Together they welcomed two more children Jadin (12) and Ardin (7), making them a family of five. Their marriage and family were built around their faith in Jehovah and his promises in the bible. Cal always carried the teachings of Jehovah close to his heart. As a family, their greatest joy was serving Jehovah together. Cal was the pure definition of a family man, always keeping them as his prime focus and reason in life. He looked for ways to help and encourage others. He was always taking notice and offering comfort and support to a hurting soul. His witty and sarcastic sense of humor will be remembered by many. His famous "one liners" will be sincerely missed. We will continue to carry on his legacy of "making memories" as Cal liked to say. Cal was a highly skilled salesman that used his charm to win over the hearts of everyone including those in the oil and gas industry. He built so many lasting relationships with family, friends, and customers. He worked in the oil and gas industry for 18 years and earned the respect of many. He proved himself to be a knowledgeable, dependable, and respectable asset to his fellow colleagues. Cal had many hobbies that he enjoyed. He loved to spend his days on the golf course enjoying the course and the sun. Fishing at Alcova was one of his favorite pastimes. Traveling with his friends and making memories was something he looked forward to every year. In his younger days he loved bull riding and lived the rodeo life. Later he watched old westerns with his children in lieu of the actual thing. Cal is survived in death by his wife, Autumn Smith; three children, Kaylee, Jadin and Ardin, of Casper Wyoming; his father, Dan and step-mother Bonnie Smith of Evanston, Wyoming and his mother, Shree Saye of Billings, Montana. Also survived by his younger sister DaNell Chase and her family; Husband, Troy Chase and their two children Brody and Shaylee all of North Platte, Nebraska. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by Autumn's family who welcomed him through marriage; Mother in-law Brenda and Step Father in-law Wes Shafer of Casper, Wyoming; Father in-law Phillip Goodrich of Pueblo, Colorado. Also, two Brothers in-law, Phillip Goodrich of Douglas, Wyoming, Jareb Goodrich of Wheatland, Wyoming and their families. He is also survived by his Sister in-law Ambra Cortez of Casper, Wyoming and her family. He is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Barb Tasker and Jim Saye; his Paternal Grandparents, John and Emma Smith. His memorial service will be held at 4pm on August 12, 2015 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1101 Wilkins Circle, Casper, WY.
