Byron Elmer Dunbar of Casper, Wyoming passed away peacefully January 17, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home at the age of 90. Byron was born July 23, 1920 in Johnson, Nebraska to E.L. and Gladys Walters Dunbar. He was preceded in death by one son, David, and his wife of 60 years, Helen Neufeld Dunbar. , Byron served in the U.S. Army Air Corps (U.S. Air Force) until 1956. He served two European tours during World War II, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He was also stationed in Casper, Wyoming just prior to his European Tours. Byron moved his family back to Casper in 1956 where he was employed by KVOC radio and hosted Barnev's Barn, a morning radio show. He later worked at KTWO- TV as film editor. He retired in the early 1980s. In his retirement, he loved hunting, fishing and rescuing abandoned animals. Surviving are his son, Dean (Joyce) Dunbar of Aurora. Colorado, and one grandson Adam, of Denver, Colorado. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday. January 21, 2011, at Bustard's Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Casper Humane Society.
