The Lord lifted the fog of Alzheimer's from Boyd Don Hall, and led him from the twilight into the bright sunlight of paradise on November 28, 2016. Boyd passed away at Central Wyoming Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Born October 12, 1928 in Snyder, Texas, Boyd was the fourth son of Burl and Elizabeth (Atchley) Hall. He attended schools in Texas and, near the end of World War II, followed his family to Bend, Oregon, where he graduated from high school in 1946. A tireless and industrious tradesman, Boyd began his successful business career, and passion for steel, as an ironworker with Fontana Steel in Fontana, California laying rebar on projects throughout the western US, including Riverton, Wyoming where he met his life-partner, Wanda Lee Price. In late 1949, he received his military induction notice and entered the US Army in January 1950, and in March, while on leave, Boyd and Wanda were married in Yuma, Arizona, beginning a union that would last for more than 66 years. Boyd served his country in the US Army from Fort Ord (CA), Camp Beale (CA), Fort Huachuca (AZ) and Fort Belvoir (VA) and was honorably discharged in December 1951. Their only child, Randall "Randy" was born in 1954. Boyd and Wanda and their infant son moved to Worland in 1955 to start a steel business, Teton Steel Company, with Boyd's brother Burl L. Hall. Together, BL and Boyd laid rebar on hundreds of bridge decks throughout Wyoming, many during the construction of Interstates 25, 80 and 90. During this period of his life, Boyd experienced the highs and lows of the economic engine that drives Wyoming business. He learned to thrive and profit in that diverse business climate. In 1967, Boyd and Wanda acquired Pepper Tank and Contracting Company and grew that business into a successful fabrication company designing and building parts and structures for the booming oil and gas industry. At the height of the market, he sold Pepper Tank in 1977 to retire to Yuma, Arizona, where the warm climate would aide Wanda's advancing rheumatoid arthritis condition. Though retired, Boyd became an active investor in real estate in Yuma and Casper, founding Mesa del Sol, an active retirement community in Yuma which now boasts over 4,600 residents and features an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course; The Mesa in Casper, now home to CY Middle School, Pathways Innovation Center and Studio City Mesa and many other real estate properties. He inspired his son, Randy, to enter the real estate profession and until the progression of his illness prevented it, served as Randy's mentor and confidante. He was proud of the accomplishments of his son and daughter-in-law, Michele. Boyd was preceded in death by both of his parents; infant brother, Bobby Lee; beloved brother, Daniel Wade (DW) who was killed in WWII; brothers, Burl "BL" and Herman; and sisters, Merkel, Willadeen, Ida and Bobbie Dee.
