Services for Bonnie Jean McAtee, 80, will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Mount Hope Lutheran Church in Casper. Interment will take place at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville. She died Nov. 4, 2011 at her home of natural causes. Bonnie was born on May 23, 1931, to Earl and Rose (Hellekson) Howie in Marcus, S.D. and received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Black Hills State University. She married the love of her life, Thomas Carl McAtee, on Sept. 25, 1955 in Spearfish, S.D. Bonnie's teaching and coaching career spanned over 40 years and touched the lives of hundreds of children throughout South Dakota, Idaho and Wyoming. She was an avid golfer and loved tending to her flowers and tomato plants. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and taking part in monthly luncheons with her fellow retired teachers group. Her most enjoyable times were those she could spend with her children and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Drinda (Mickey) Simons of White Owl, S.D. and Joette (Cory) Yingling of Glenrock, WY; her 9 grandchildren: Kelly Hauser, Sarah (Roy) Antrim, Thomas, Tyler, Tristen and Tanner Simons, Tiffany Suggs, Thomas Suggs, Taylor Yingling and 3 great- grandchildren: Alli Hauser, Roy and Reyse Antrim and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her only son, Carl McAtee, passed away two days following her death. She was preceded in death by: her father Earl Howie, her mother Rose Howie, her husband Thomas McAtee and her sisters Nonabelle Ellefson and Marian Thompson.
