Betty Gaye (Meguire) Walts, age 76, died at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Friday, December 19, 2014, from cancer. Born at home on September 16, 1938 to Margaret and William Anderson "Andy" Meguire, she lived on her family's farm near Stratton, NE where she enjoyed what she always referred to as "the good life." She graduated from Stratton High School in 1956, and received a certificate of graduation from the Denver Business College in 1957. She lived in many different places across Nebraska including Lincoln, Lexington, Broken Bow, and Enders, and spent a few wonderful years in Vernal, UT before later settling in Casper, WY with her husband, Raymond Jackson "Jack" Walts. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. Betty was an active member of several P.E.O. Chapters across the Midwest with her current sisterhood being within Casper's Chapter Y. She devoted countless hours of volunteer work for the "Sandwich Ministry" along with a number of other volunteer based community organizations. She was a talented musician who brightened the lives of many with her playing. A fine pianist and organist, she offered her musical gifts to many church congregations starting as the church organist for the United Methodist Church in Stratton, NE at the young age of 13. She spent the last 20 years serving as the church pianist and organist for the congregation of First Christian Church, and for 17 of those years she played concurrently for Christ United Methodist church in Casper. Betty will be especially remembered for her quick wit, infectious giggle, bright blue eyes and musical talent. She had a warmth about her that could put any room at ease, and a presence that always brought a smile. Her family won't ever play a board game, or game of scrabble, without fondly remembering her sweet competitive nature. Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret (Foster) Meguire, father, William Anderson "Andy" Meguire, and first husband, Roland Earl "Ron" Petersen, with whom she adopted and raised two children. She is survived by her longtime companion, best friend, and husband of 35 years, Raymond Jackson "Jack" Walts, her older brothers Alan Meguire (Neioma), and William Anderson "Billy" Meguire, Jr. (Edith), her children Michelle (Petersen) Biggart (Henry), Mark Eld0n Petersen (Jamee), Amanda (Walts) Baker (Dan), and Sheila (Walts) Bush (David). Betty and Jack shared the joy of seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
