Betty Penton

Memorial services for Betty Lou Penton will be held on Thursday, April 28 at 2p at the Anglican Church of the Resurrection located at 342 South Grant Street. Her beloved pastor Father Tom Johnson will be officiating the service. Betty was born March 24, 1925 in Casper, Wyoming to Peter and Stella (Roberts) Gottfried. She grew up in and around Casper and often shared memories of riding horses and taking care of her pet calf. Betty was a graduate of Natrona County High School and retired from Mountain Bell after a 35 year career as an operator supervisor. Betty married Robert Holt in 1940 and of that union they had a daughter, Joy Janet Holt. They later divorced. Betty married Bruce Allen Penton in 1946 and of that union there were two children (Renee Cynthia Penton and Timothy Allen Penton). Bruce and Betty were together until his death in April of 2011. Betty enjoyed volunteering and donated her time to the Telephone Pioneers, the American Cancer Society, the Casper Troopers and the Natrona County Democratic Party. She is survived by her children Joy (Hoffman), Renee (Penton-Jones) and Timothy Penton, along with multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings Theodore, Sarah, Roy, Paul and Peter Gottfried. Betty will be buried next to her husband, Bruce, at the Veteran's Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Betty's grandsons Jack Daniel Hoffman, James Stress and Montana Penton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Casper Senior Center or the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
