Memorial services for Mrs. Betty Morrison, 90, of Casper, WY, will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, November 7, 2014 at Highland Park Community Church. Betty was born in Hills, Minnesota on November 5th, 1923 to Scott and Sylvia Sorenson. Betty received her education in South Dakota and Nebraska. When the Second World War started, Betty and her family moved to Long Beach, California. In the early 1940's at the beginning of World War II Betty went to work for Douglas Aircraft assembling A-26 Invaders and B-47 aircraft. She became a member one of the renowned {Rosie the Riveter girls assembly teams} In 1945, after the end of the war, Betty and her family moved to Casper, Wyoming. Her father, Scott was a long time Pharmacist in Casper. During that time Betty met and married the love of her life, Jim Morrison. They were married in the Chapel of The Transfiguration, near Jackson, Wyoming on August 12th, 1946. Betty worked in Casper's J.C Penny store for 10 years and for many years was a Department head at that Store. She then went to work for Mountain States Lithograph, in Casper. After Jim's retirement from the Texaco refinery Betty and Jim enjoyed 18 years of wintering in Yuma, Arizona. Her whole life revolved around her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge, painting, crocheting and playing the organ. She also really enjoyed doing volunteer work for numerous Casper organizations. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jim Morrison. Her parents, Scott and Sylvia, her sister Frances, and brother-in- law Keith Sponsler, sister-in-law Joann Sorenson, and brother, Lee Sorenson also preceded her in death. All except Keith and Frances were from Casper. Betty is survived by her three sons; Jim Jr (Chris), Kit (Alison), and Ron Morrison all of Casper. Also surviving Betty are her brothers, Scott and Richard (Dick) and his wife Karen Sorenson of Casper. Also sister-in-law Grace Sorenson of Yuma, Arizona. She has left behind a huge family; 10 grand-children and step grand-children, 21 great grand-children and step grand-children with many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
