Florence “Betty” Halsey, 92 years old, of Casper, WY, passed away on February 22, 2021 in Casper at Central Wyoming Hospice. She had been visited every day and doted and loved on by her family leading up to her death.
Betty was born in Rawlins WY to James Wilson and Edith Humphrey on March 29, 1928. She had two brothers (Bill and Dobe) and seven sisters (Edith, Mildred, Nellie, Norma, Pegge, Winnie, and Gail) They were all incredibly close. Betty was married then later divorced to Russell Halsey and during that time she had her 3 sons Rusty, Don, and Jim. She worked incredibly hard as a single mother to provide a good life for her boys by working for 27 years as a postal clerk for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1988. After retirement she got to travel, garden, quilt and craft, but most importantly she perfected being the best mom, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nobody met Betty without instantly feeling welcomed and accepted by her. She was someone you wanted to be around as much as possible. She was the heart of her close family and taught us many life lessons that shaped who we are today.
She is survived by her three sons, Rusty (Roxie) Halsey, Don (Jan) Halsey, Jim Halsey (Jan Glover). Her ex- daughter in law/ best friend Ty (Don) Hoffman. Her grandchildren Allie (Yes) Serious, Zack (Tiffany) Halsey, Brandon (Jennifer) Hudson, Erik Hudson, Willow (Chris) Van Norman, Kaitlynn Glover, Spencer (Deylynne) Halsey, Zander and Zoe Halsey. Her great grandchildren Joshua and Ivy Van Norman and Kambri, Mikaya, and Jameson Halsey. Her sisters Nellie Duncan, Pegge Thompson and Gail Evans. And her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, both brothers Bill and Dobe, and her sisters Edith, Mid, Norma, and Winnie. Her brother in laws Pat, Stanton, Doyle, Gerald, Jim N., Bud, and Jim M. Her nieces Kim and Holly, her nephews Bill, Greg, Ron, Bob, and her adopted grandson, Dillon.
Immediate funeral services with a reception afterwards will start at 11am Saturday, February 27, 2021 at First Church of the Nazarene (2020 S Jefferson St in Casper) The family would be grateful for flowers for the service. If you’d like to make donations in Bettys name to Central Wyoming Hospice that would be nice, too. They took such gentle care of her. A family get together to spread Bettys ashes will be held in the future at an undetermined date in nicer weather.
Due to heath and safety concerns the family requests that all attendees wear face masks at the service.
