Betty Cates

Betty Cates, 81, of Casper, WY slipped away as her husband was by her side on May 29, 2015 in Casper, WY at Central Wyoming Hospice. Betty was born January 28, 1934 in Olpe Kansas to Grant and Juanita Heidrick. Her family moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado where she attended high school. On July 8, 1956 she married Bob Cates. Together they raised their daughter and Betty's niece, Karla Kay Williams and nephew, Bradley Williams. Betty was an incredible homemaker, wife and mother. She was also a bookkeeper for several doctors. She was a Member of Casper Elks Lodge 1353 and spent over 45 years volunteering. She enjoyed ship cruising, summers at Lake Alcova, Elks events and traveling to new places as well as anything purple. Above all she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty leaves behind her adoring husband of 58 years; Bob Cates of Casper, WY , daughter; Debbie (Tim) Smith of Casper, WY , Niece; Karla Kay (John) Noonanof Beaumont, CA, Nephew; Bradley (Linda) Williams of Whittier, CA, Grandchildren; Travis (Tessi) Smith of Windsor, CO, Kaila Smith of Casper, WY, great-grandchildren; Damian Park of Casper, WY, Rossi and Hollin Smith of Windsor, CO as well as several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law; Peggy and Dude Williams, one nephew; Jeffrey Williams and her great-granddaughter; Savanna Park. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Elks Lodge, 108 E. 7th Street in Casper. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 5PM to 8PM at Bustard's Funeral Home.
