Bessie Sherman

April 6, 1936 — February 3, 2016

Bessie Adele Sherman, 79, of Glenrock, WY, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was welcomed into her Father's Open Arms on February 3, 2016. Bessie was born on April 6, 1936, in Casper, Wyoming to Ralph Raymond (Jack) and Mona Underwood. She grew up in various locations throughout the midwestern and western United States. In Bessie's younger years, along with her sisters Marie and Jackie, she took singing and dancing lessons. Their instructor formed the group "The Three Little Sisters". They took their song and dance troupe to many military bases in California during World War II. They had a screen test scheduled in Hollywood through their talent scout, but their dad decided he didn't want his precious daughters exposed to the "Hollywood Environment", so the family moved back to Casper. Bessie married the love of her life, Richard E. (Dick) Sherman, in Reno, Nevada on December 28, 1956. Together they raised three children, Rob, Paul, and Charlotte, based on a loving relationship and strong faith. She possessed a great talent for drawing, and creating beautiful silk floral and wreath arrangements. She also loved the springtime, when she could plant and tend to her flowers. Bessie's greatest treasures, however, were her family, her church "family", her Heavenly Father, and his son, Jesus Christ. She dearly loved each and every one of her family, but being around the babies always brought her a special joy. She always placed her needs secondary to everyone else's. Making others happy was what made her happy. Her love and devotion to her faith were extremely obvious to all, and reading the Scriptures brought her great peace and comfort. She was an angel on earth, now she's up with the angels. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, her daughter, and two sisters. Bessie is survived by her sons Robert (Kathy) Sherman of Cheyenne, WY and Paul (Dawn) Sherman of Rapid City, SD, sister Jackie Gallinger of Glenrock, WY, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 nieces, and 2 nephews, There will be a Graveside Service at Glenrock Cemetery on Monday, February 8, 2016, followed by a luncheon at the Glenrock Assembly of God Church. In honor of Bessie, memorials may be made to a charity closest to your heart.
