Bernard Strohecker

A memorial service for Bernard F. Strohecker, 94 and Carol Strohecker will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery. He passed away on March 7, 2014 in Casper. Bernard was born on January 20, 1920 in Casper to John and Mattie (Hill) Strohecker. He graduated from Natrona County High School and went on to serve honorably in the Unites States Army Air Forces during World War II from September 1939 to September 1945. He flew 36 combat missions as a B-17 tail gunner and received the Air Medal and the Silver Star. He married Carol Ankney on the Strohecker Ranch near Natrona on November 15, 1947. Bernard and Carol were blessed with three children. They were married for nearly 65 years before her passing in 2012. He was an avid golfer. He is survived by his sons, Jim Strohecker of Casper, and John Strohecker of Riverton, WY; daughter, Dale Simmons of Vacaville, CA; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, WY 82601 Bustard's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
