Benny L. Wood

Benny (Ben) L. Wood, 79, of Casper, Wyoming died March 21, 2024.  A graveside memorial will be held in his honor at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery May 3, 2024 at 2:30 pm.

 Ben was born July 5, 1944 to James Olis and Margaret Wood.  He grew up in Jal, New Mexico and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1962.  After high school he served his country in the Vietnam War.

 Ben married Cora Simmons August 20, 1983.  He was a retired Gas Compressor Technician and in prior years the Vice President of Wells Compression.  He lived for many years in Texas, but enjoyed the last ten years in Wyoming.  He truly loved the beauty of the state and its rich history.

 Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Cora, of Casper Wyoming, daughter Shannon, son-in-law, Jim Fish of Aberdeen South Dakota, daughter Kerrie, son-in-law, Justin Meyer of Madison South Dakota, son Matthew, daughter-in-law, Shanna Simmons of College Station Texas, grandchildren Evelynn Fish and Gabe Lundeen, Isabelle Fish, Nathan Meyer, Claire Meyer, Jack Meyer, Johnathon and Becca Simmons, Dominic Simmons, Bailey Simmons and Devin Simmons, brother Ron Wood of Houston Texas, brother in law Jim McConnell of Lubbock Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jack Wood and his sister Nelda McConnell.

In remembrance of Ben’s life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to  Central Wyoming Hospice.  The family asks that those who wish can make a donation to their favorite charity in Ben’s name.
