After living a joy-filled life for 102 years our mom Bee died peacefully in her sleep on August 17th in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Bee was born in Emerson, Nebraska to Kathryn and John Gilfert. She also spent years in Canada where her parents farmed and cooked for the men working on the Canadian Railway. Bee had a sister, Lillian Evelyn who died when the girls were teen-agers.The family returned to Nebraska where Bee completed school and met her future husband Marvin Wallway. After high school and a secret marriage that lasted 62 years, Bee went off to Nursing school and became an RN. During the Great Depression, Marvin and Bee moved out to California. Marvin went to USC and Bee worked for a hospital and clinic there. Their daughters Mary Kay and Donna were born in California. After some time in Utah and Cody, Wyoming, Bee and Marvin settled in Casper Wyoming. Two more girls were born there, Patty and Lonna. Bee was very involved in her girls' education working with the local and the state PTA organizations and baking coffee cakes for all her girls' teachers every Christmas. She was also active in her churches, political organizations, Geologists Wives and Fine Arts. Bee loved modeling for her good friend Margaret Kiernan who owned Margaret K's women's store. She also was instrumental in organizing Casper's Red Hat Society. Bee loved to ‘play in the dirt' coaxing things to grow in the gray Wyoming soil. Reading was important to her as was traveling. During the last years of her life, Bee lived in the house next door to Lonna in Sioux Falls where she was lovingly cared for by Jeff and Lonna and her wonderful dog, Katie Cowgirl. Bee was preceded in death by infant twins who died at birth, her husband Marvin and her wonderful daughter Mary Kay. Bee's love of life and curious, loving, willing spirit will be deeply missed by: her daughters Donna (Greer) Markle, Patty Wallway (Randall Ryder), Lonna (Jeff )Jones. Her grandchildren Bin Jones, Jordan (Nicole) Jones, Cody (Betsey Temple), Lacey Hanson, Adam Markle, Larry Goldstein, Marc Goldstein, and Steven Goldstein. Great-grandchildren Jaleigh Jones, Silas Jones, John Marvin Temple-Hanson, Anne Beatrice Temple-Hanson.
