A celebration of life for Betty will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday June 30, 2011 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Visitation at Bustard's Funeral Home will be Wednesday, June 29 from 1:00-7:00 pm and a prayer service will follow at 7:00. Betty passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Life Care Center of Casper, surrounded by her family and the exceptionally loving staff of Life Care. Betty was born April 16, 1930 in Orin Junction, WY, the daughter of Thomas and Rose (Roberts) Story. She graduated from Douglas High School. In the summer of 1949, she married Ralph L. Snyder and they made their home together in Casper. Ralph passed away at the young age of 45 and Betty set out to raise her five children on her own. She worked for 22 yrs for Memorial Hospital of Casper, starting out as a Ward Clerk and finishing as a Personnel Clerk there. After retiring, Betty's love of people pushed her to return to work as a clerk at Walmart. Her generous spirit kept her always ready to give of herself to her family and anyone in need. Children were her main focus. She felt every young person needed protection and love. Betty was a member of the Catholic Church and sang in the choirs at both St. Anthony's and St. Patrick's. In her years as a young wife, she received voice lessons from Courtney Proffet, who had performed with the opera in NYC. Betty's beautiful soprano voice was a wonderful gift to those who were fortunate enough to hear her sing. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, brother Jim and brother Art Pearson. She is survived by her dearly loved sisters- Rose Marie Pearson, Mary Meinzer and Irene Story. Also surviving her are her children- Rosie (Dennis) Dusel, Judy Snyder, Linda (Jerry) Sweets, Mary (Gary) Keegan, and Tom (Christine) Snyder. She has 8 surviving grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Betty has many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Children's Home or the Casper Children's Chorale.
