Miller Barbara Maxine Tarrant ( Harris ), 93, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming. She was surrounded by love, with her three daughters by her side, free of pain and still smiling with a flower in her hair.
Born on September 15, 1931, in Douglas, Wyoming, to Maxie Leroy and Katarina Katherin Harris (Schilling), Barbara’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and love. She built her life upon a foundation of dedication and hard work—values that carried her through a long career with Pacific Power and Light. Starting as a janitor and mail clerk, she steadily worked her way up to retire as a secretary—an achievement that spoke to her resilience and determination.
Faith was the cornerstone of Barbara’s life. A devoted Baptist for most of her years, she found solace in scripture and always kept a Bible close at hand. Music was another source of joy for her; she loved playing the organ, filling her home with melodies that reflected the depth of her spirituality.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, James H. Miller and George Tarrant; daughters-in-law Susan (Sam) Miller and Sharon Miller; and granddaughter Veronica Martinez. She is survived by her children: Gloria McMurray (Joe) of Casper; Barbara Jongsma (Jim) of Sheridan; Jimi Miller of Casper; Debra Martinez (Joaquin) of Ontario, California; Steve Tarrant (Lynn) of Montana; and Chris Olson of North Carolina. She also leaves behind her brother Ronald L. Harris (Nancy) of Washington; grandchildren Joseph McMurray of Casper, Mike Cantu of Casper, Melanie Cantu of Casper, Sheila Frisby (Matt) of Casper; Jeremy Miller of California, Joshua Miller (Shubhi) of California, and Armando Martinez of California; Robert Harris of Colorado; Brian Miller of Casper; Lorraine Salo ( Tony) of Casper; along with Lifelong companions Rosie Eddy (Doc), Kay Cooper, Corky Garner, Shannon Harris, Diana and Joanie Schilling; as well as many nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who cherished her presence in their lives.
Barbara’s memory will live on through the love she shared with family and friends. May those who knew her find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind.
Cremation has taken place at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
