Barbara Eastridge

August 9, 1934 — April 19, 2018

The family of Barbara Eastridge (nee Thalken), 83, invites you to join them in the celebration of her life on May 1st, 2018 at the Oregon Trail Veteran's Chapel, 80 Veterans Rd, Evansville, WY 82636 at 1PM. Barbara passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 19th, 2018. Those attending this celebration are asked to wear bright colors, which Barbara loved. Barbara was born 8-9-1934 in Laramie, WY to John B. and Lydia Thalken. After excelling in High School, she opted to forego a scholarship to the University of WY and join the Navy. While stationed at the Naval Base in San Diego, CA, she met the love of her life, U.S. Marine Corporal L. Paul Eastridge. They fell in love and were married in Yuma, AZ on 12-12-1953. After discharge, they settled in Casper, WY where they raised 3 daughters. Barbara worked for the Natrona County School District for many years as a playground aide, secretary and classroom assistant. She was also the secretary at Goshen Hole Jr/Sr High School in Veteran, WY from 1976 to 1979. She was very active in the American Legion and was the state Commander from 2004 to 2005. She also volunteered for the Adult Literacy Campaign. A lifelong Wyomingite, Barbara loved her state and country. Above all, she loved her family and was always happiest when working with children. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved children and animals and donated to many charities benefitting their causes. Her hobbies included reading, the arts, hiking, fishing and spending time at the family cabin at Seminoe. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John B. and Lydia Thalken, her brother John E. Thalken and her sister Patsy Thalken. She is survived by her husband L. Paul Eastridge; her three daughters; Gloria Fiorini, Gayle Eastridge-Revere and Carol Cutler all of Casper. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A reception and pot luck dinner will follow the service at The United Church of Christ reception hall 1511 S Melrose St in Casper. Flowers are welcome and can be sent to the Veterans Chapel on the day of the service or to 219 S. Sinclair Pl, Casper, WY 82609. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Casper Humane Society, 849 E "E" St, Casper, WY 82601 in her name are appreciated.
