“B” Joe Meyer passed away on February 11th, 2023 in Casper, WY.
Joe was born May 24, 1933 to Ethel J. Mardis (Meyer), in Brady, Nebraska. He was later adopted by Charles “Buck” Meyer, of Guernsey, WY. Joe was raised in the Ft. Laramie/Guernsey area where he graduated high school in 1951. He joined the Navy in 1953, serving in Japan and Korea as an Electronic Technician, Radio. He received the Korean Service Citation, and was honorably discharged in 1957.
He returned to college and attended the University of Idaho. During visits to his family in Grangeville, he met JoAnn Schaeffer and they were married in Riverton, WY on January 12th, 1960. With their 3 children Barbara, Kelly and Jay, they resided mostly at the Sand Draw Station near Riverton as part of the Northern Gas/KN Gas community. Upon Joe’s retirement from KN, they moved to Casper, WY. Joe was an avid fisherman and could be found on the Sweetwater or Platte; Boysen or Alcova many days of the week. He was a member of Casper Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, and Wyoming Fly Casters Club for many years…he was honored to be one of their MacTavish Service Award recipients. He was very involved in teaching fly fishing and fly tying, and featured in local publications as “Fishing with Joe”. He was also a longtime Mensa member. Joe and JoAnn were avid readers and collectors of books, spending their time together buying and researching books.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife JoAnn, his son Kelly, his brothers Richard Hoffman & Gillis Borg, and sister Alice Schmidt. He is survived by daughter Barbara (Jim) Brown, son Jay Meyer, daughter-in-law Denise Meyer, brother Chuck Borg, sister Marlys Dooley, brother-in-law Harold (Carol) Schaeffer, sister-in-law’s Nila Hoffman, Joan Schaeffer and Ella Schaeffer, along with his grandchildren Daniel (Katie) Brown, Tyler (Francesca) Brown, Autumn (Collin) Fossen, Jason Meyer, Andrew Meyer and Jack Meyer, 7 great grandchildren and lifelong friends John and Barb Keily.

Military Honors will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:00pm at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home with a reception to follow.
