Lowell (Art) Rymill was born April 19, 1920in Lusk, Wyoming to Robert J. and Nellie M. (Hall) Rymill. He moved with his family to Fort Laramie, Wyoming where his father established the Fort Laramie Lumber Co. Lowell (Art) attended school in Fort Laramie and graduated from the Fort Laramie High School in 1938. He then attended the University of Wyoming. In 1941 he married Doris E. Summons, a Registered Nurse, and they lived in Laramie until the end of 1942, at which time Lowell (Art) was drafted into the U.S. Army and he served in the European Theater for over two and one half years and was discharged on December 28, 1945. There were three children born to the family. After World War II, Lowell (Art) worked for his father in Lingle and Fort Laramie, Wyoming. In 1948 the family moved to Laramie, Wyoming for Lowell (Art) to complete his college education. He received a Batchelor of Science degree in Statistics and Accounting. He then went to work for Gates Rubber Company in Denver, Colorado to head up their newly formed Statistical Quality Control Department. After a short time at Gates Rubber Company, he was recalled to active duty in the Army for the Korean War and was in the Army for five years. Upon discharge from the Army he went to work for the AT. &T. Company in Winston Salem, North Carolina and was there for twelve years. He was then transferred to their plant in Omaha, Nebraska. He retired from the AT. &T. Company in 1982 and the family moved to Torrington, Wyoming. He and Doris lived there until 1998 when they moved to an Independent Living Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Doris, his wife for fifty-nine and a half years, passed away in 2000. On January 25, 2002 Lowell (Art) married Frieda Taubert Missel (a dear friend of their school days in Fort Laramie, Wyoming) in Casper, Wyoming and they lived there until his death. Lowell was a member of the Torrington Masonic Lodge No. 29, AF. and AM., a past post Commander of the American Legion Post No. 5, in Torrington, Wyoming, also past Post Commander of VFW Post No. 2918 of Torrington, Wyoming, holding life Membership in both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is also a Past State Commander of the V.F.W. He and Frieda drove for Meals on Wheels for several years after their marriage. Lowell (Art) enjoyed wood working, reading and traveling. Lowell (Art) was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris, his parents, one infant son, Leonard, a brother, Robert, sister Anna Pomeroy and sister, Edith Rymill. Survivors include his wife Frieda, his son Richard and wife, Jackie; his daughter Nancy and her husband Gene Wiegand; two granddaughters, Angela Wiegand, and Stacey Wiegand; one grandson, Brian Rymill and wife Michelle: two great granddaughters, Anna Rymill and Allison Rymill; also one step-son Louis (Bud) Missel and wife Peggy; step- daughter Cathi and her husband David Engels; a step-daughter Peggy and her husband Sam Wagner; four step-grand daughters, Kelly Engels ,Maggie and her husband, Jamie Myers, Undsey Missel; and Samantha Wagner; three step-grand sons, Jackson Engels and his wife Sue, Louis Engels and his wife Sarabeth; and Taylor Wagner. Graveside services for family and friends will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Valley View Cemetery, Torrington, Wyoming Memorials may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions of Casper, Natrona County Meals on Wheels, or the charity of one's choice.
