Arthur Lewis Hill

Art Hill passed away March 7, 2025. He was 95 years of age.

He was born to Clifford Arthur Hill and Fern Alice (Young) Hill in Scenic, SD on January 21, 1930. He graduated from high school at New Underwood, SD in 1948.

He attended Black Hills Teachers College and graduated in 1952. He played football for four years and was elected as co-captain his senior year.

He was selected as the head coach (all sports) for Glenrock - Parkerton High School in the fall of 1952. During his stay at Glenrock, he met and married Elinor Burch. They had five children, Pamela, Joan, Clifford, Janet, and James. After four years at Glenrock, he and the family moved to Riverton.

After three years at Riverton, they moved to Casper, where he taught and coached for thirty years. His first year was at Dean Morgan Junior High School, and the next twenty­ nine at Natrona County High School. He served as head football coach for nineteen years and Athletic Director for twenty-five years. He retired in 1989. He was rewarded as noted, for his endeavors to play football, referee basketball, and coach football. His recognition and awards include the following: Black Hills State University Athletic Hall of Fame - 1984, Wyoming Coaches Hall of Fame - 1984, Wyoming Sports Officials Association Hall of Fame, 1993, National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame - 1997, and Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame - 2002. For his many years of dedication to Natrona County High School, the football stadium press box was named in his honor in 2004.

He is survived by his children Pamela (Terry) Nenaber of Gilbert, AZ, Clifford (Belinda) Hill of Gillette, Janet Clutter of Casper, James (Sue) Hill of Spearfish, SD, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Art was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Elinor and his lovely daughter Joan.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
