Antonia Barlos

February 10, 1925 — June 27, 2019

Antonia Vlahogiannopulos Barlos Feb 10, 1925 - June 27, 2019 Antonia was born in Kokkinos, Greece in 1925. Growing into a woman with a sweet nature and a caring heart, she worked as an aide in various clinics in Kalamata, and in Athens she worked as a nanny for several high-ranking U.S. military families. She arrived in Casper in the 1960s, where she met her husband-to-be, Christos V. Barlos. For years they worked side by side in various business ventures, starting with a property on Durbin Street (the oldest standing structure in Casper - built in 1888) and expanding to several other properties around town, including the old Lavon Rooming House, which was on Durbin as well, and the Galley Motel on Center Street. In later years, Antonia enjoyed going to church, taking care of the family properties on North Durbin, and being with friends and family, especially if babies, children or animals were around! Her face would light up, which in turn brought a smile to the faces of everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her grandchildren. Affectionately referred to as Toni or YiaYia, she was a fiercely caring mother and a devoted grandma. Antonia is preceded in death by her husband, Chris Barlos, her son-in-law Robert P. Garner, her parents, and her five siblings. She is survived by her only child, Nikki Barlos-Garner, her two loving, beautiful granddaughters: Christina Jean Barlos-Garner and Antonia Jean Barlos-Garner, a brother and sister and their families in Greece, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Trisagion Service will be held at Bustard's Funeral Home Tuesday, July 2nd at 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will be at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 11:30 AM, with interment and Meal of Mercy to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where a memorial fund has been established in her honor. Everyone who knew YiaYia loved her. Family and friends know she has found the peace she deserves, and will carry her in their hearts forever.
