Allan Hagerott

Allan George Hagerott, age 86, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Casper, WY. He succumbed to the gradual progression of dementia diagnosed in 2005. Military memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016, in the chapel at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery, Evansville, WY. Allan was born August 30, 1929, in Mandan, North Dakota, the son of George and Eleanor (Menke) Hagerott. He was the second oldest of seven siblings. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Mandan High School. Allan joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and worked as an Engineman 2nd Class on the Robert K. Huntington DD-781 Destroyer during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952. Following the Navy, he worked as a mechanic at the Ford garage in Mandan, ND. In June of 1953, he married the love of his life, Darlene May Spitzer in Bismarck, ND. In 1954, the couple moved to Billings, Montana. They had four children together. Allan worked for Sohio Petroleum Co. in Billings, MT and later accepted employment with Superior Oil in Casper, WY. In 1961, he went to work for Pacific Power & Light in Casper and retired in 1991 after 30 years of service. He was a proud member of UWUA Local 127. During his employment, he continued farming with his brothers outside of Mandan near Crown Butte. Farming was his life and he cherished spending time with all of his family around the farm's dining room table reminiscing about the old days. Allan was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Casper, WY. He was Committee Chairman and helped organize the first Boy Scout Troop #167 in Paradise Valley, Casper, WY. He was also an advisor for Junior Achievement. He was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge #1353. Allan was an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing. During his early retirement years, he and Darlene wintered in Yuma, AZ. Allan loved camping, working on vehicles, and tinkering. He could fix anything! He even had several inventions that he submitted for patent. Allan had a gift for music and loved playing his harmonica and mandolin. He was a talented artist and pursued his interests through the Norman Rockwell artist program. He had wisdom to share, a good sense of humor, and liked to joke. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends! Allan is survived by his wife, Darlene; his son, Greg (Judy) Hagerott of Sheridan, WY; daughters, Kim (Jeff) Larson of Casper, WY; Jill (Craig) Belecky of Gillette, WY; Gail Hagerott of Casper, WY; two sisters, Lorene (Ted) Siegel of Casper, WY; Dorothy DeBattista of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers, Donald (Jalane) Hagerott of Spokane, WA; George "Bill" (Carol) Hagerott of Mandan, ND; many nieces and nephews; and blessed with 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Norma (Cliff) Dye and Alice "Babs" Hagerott.
