Alison Magee

October 4, 1936 — April 24, 2019

Alison S Pitcaithly Magee died peacefully in her home, April 24, 2019, after a 40 year battle with cancer. Alison was born on October 4, 1936 to Ngata and Reena Pitcaithly in Dannevirke, New Zealand. As a child, she loved the beach, bagpipe music, horses, equestrian riding, sailing and sports. She held many records for hurdles in track as well as in running. Alison left New Zealand in 1958 to travel the world. On her adventure, she met the love of her life, James (Jim) Magee. Jim and Alison were married on September 3,1960. They had a true love and a beautiful story. They made their home in Glenrock, Wyoming and went on to have four children. Alison was a preschool teacher and owned Small World Preschool for over 20 years. She had a natural rapport with children and impacted many young lives. She was known as "Mrs Agee" to many and teaching was one of the highlights of her life. Alison had a passion for education and she served on the Converse County School Board in Glenrock from 1989-2012. She also served on the board of BOCES in Gillette, Wyoming for the same duration. She served on the Glenrock Senior Citizens board for a number of years. Alison was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Glenrock for over 55 years. This church was so important to her and she instilled the same importance into her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed serving on the Bishop's Committee several times throughout the years. Alison's family was her motivation for fighting her cancer. She went to every activity she could to watch her grandchildren in hockey, football, baseball, dance, 4-H, FFA and other school or social activities. She was happiest when her husband and all of her children and grandchildren were with her. She loved family dinners and holidays with family and friends. She loved to cook and bake and everyone looked forward to her amazing treats. Alison loved to paint and has left some beautiful paintings for her family. She was a shopper and enjoyed shopping for gifts for her loved ones. Anyone who met Alison remembered her for her beautiful British accent, love of life and family, sense of humor, compassion, class, and courage. She left everyone who met her with a positive message or some sort of inspiration to carry with them.
