Alice Peterson of Casper Wyoming passed away peacefully on April 6, 2016 at the age of 87 when her heart that had been on a pacemaker for 38 years finally gave out. Born at home on a farm outside of Bridger, Montana on October 17, 1928, she was the seventh of nine children to John and Anna (Cisak) Skorupa. She attended school in Bridger graduating in 1947. Alice learned work ethics at a very early age doing chores on the farm due to her father passing away when she was 3 from getting bucked off of a horse. After High School she attended the University of Montana in Missoula. She left school after a year to help her mother on the farm and always regretted not finishing her teaching degree. On February 20, 1949 Alice married Richard Peterson in a small church wedding. After their wedding Alice followed her husband who worked as a lineman for the Telephone company to 23 Wyoming towns over the next seven years. In 1956 they settled in Casper when Dick was promoted to Engineer. Alice's two oldest children Rick and Vicki were born while they were on the move and children Brion and Yvonne came after they settled in Casper. Alice always supported her children in their schools as every ones favorite room mother with her cookies and cakes. Later she supported her children in scouting, 4-H, sports, and 17 years as a Trooper Drum and Bugle Corps parent. While raising her children Alice worked for K mart upon their opening until taking a position for the Wyoming School for the Deaf. Working with her students fulfilled her longtime dream of teaching until her retirement. Always known for excelling in all of her endeavors, she baked tens of thousands of cookies over the last 50 years for the Veterans homes in Sheridan and Buffalo. She won numerous awards at local and State Fairs for her canned goods, peaking with just over 1500 jars canned in one year. Her Polish Dill pickles were highly sought after far and wide. She made hundreds of wedding and birthday cakes over the years that were second to none. Alice would be a 60 year member of Christ United Methodist church this year and has over 50 years with the American Legion Auxiliary. In 2013 for her years of service to the community Alice was a Jefferson Award Recipient for the state of Wyoming. Alice is survived by her husband of 67 years Richard; sons Richard Gene Peterson, and Brion (Teresa) Peterson; daughter Yvonne (Jack) Pulanco; Brother Bill Skorupa; Sisters Helen Thompson, Mary Bond, and Florence Vacura; Grand Children Chad Myron, Velvet Tyler, Nathan (Carey) Myron J.C.
