Alice Catherine (Sheridan) Bradley died peacefully early Saturday morning January 20, 2018. She was 92 years old. She had lived in Casper for 68 years. She grew up on a farm outside Pittsburg Pennsylvania with an older sister and three brothers. When she moved to Casper, she quickly found work as a stenographer and secretary. She loved the opportunity to work with "the public" and remained employed with the various Natrona County and City of Casper programs well past "retirement age". Through those jobs, she met a succession of close long-time friends. Alice sang with several choirs in Casper including a women's ensemble at Casper College, and for many years at the three Catholic Churches in Casper. She was a soloist at many Casper area funerals and weddings. Alice married Ross Bradley in 1951. The couple camped in the Bighorns and fished and hunted across Shirley Basin and the creeks that drain into the North Platte river. After hunting in the then nearly unpopulated areas of Shirley basin during the 1950's she became more inclined to hike -instead of hunt- and "see the little creatures and natural beauty". Alice and Ross had two sons, Neil (deceased) and John Ross (who lives in Montana). Ross died in 1972. Alice, bolstered by long-time friends, and dedicated "helpers" enjoyed living in her "own house" cultivating flowers and grape vines, and feeding songbirds. In her last years at home, she taught herself the harmonica, and occasionally played a brief tune when answering the phone. She remained at home until May 2017 when she entered long term care. She was a strong and independent person, a loyal friend, and great mom, and compassionate realist. The nursing staff at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center tirelessly worked to make Alice's last phase of life rewarding and comfortable. Cremation has taken place. There will be no services per Alice's request. Memorial donations may be made in Alice's name to Meals on Wheels, 1760 East 12th Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601.
