Alfred Raver

Alfred " Wink" LeRoy Raver, age 83, passed away on July 30, 2018 in Casper, Wyoming. He was born on March 14, 1935 in Hot Springs, South Dakota. On July 28, 1954 Alfred married Eileen Wilkinson in Sturgis, South Dakota and together they were blessed with 3 children, Jim, Randy and Rhonda. By profession Alfred was a Carpenter. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, AFLCIO and also he was in the South Dakota National Guard. Many knew him as Wink. We knew him as wonderful husband, a great father and grandfather, a terrific friend, and a man who fought cancer to the end. He loved life, loved camping in the Big Horn Mountains, loved teasing his beloved wife of 64 years, and was a favorite patient wherever he found himself admitted. He didn't know too many strangers, but if you were one, it wouldn't take him long to make your acquaintance. We were blessed to know him in this life and already miss him. But we know that he no longer suffers and is in no more pain. There is joy now in heaven over one who belongs to Jesus. Alfred is survived by his wife, Eileen Raver of Casper, Wyoming; sons, Jim (Alice) Raver of Nashville, Tennessee; Randy (Mary) Raver, Becca ( Caleb) Palmer granddaughter, Jen (Aaron) Limmer granddaughter, Adam (Tiffany) Raver grandson, Bethany Raver granddaughter all of Casper, Wyoming; daughter, Rhonda (Wayne) Franzen of Casper, Parker Franzen grandson of Minot, North Dakota; brothers, Allen Raver (sons and grandchildren) of Jackson, Wyoming, Jack (Sylvia) Raver (children and grandchildren); brother-in-law, Russell Bull (children and grandchildren) of Casper, Wyoming. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and various nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Cecil Raver of Custer, South Dakota, sisters, Hallie Ellerton of Rapid City, South Dakota; Ellen Haven of Casper, Wyoming and brother, Chuck Raver of Port Orchard, Washington. It was Wink's wish to not have a funeral service, but we would love to gather together as family and friends to remember him, to honor him, and to comfort one another. The Gathering will be Friday, August 3, 2018, from 5:30 to 8:30pm, at Restoration Church, 411 S. Walsh Drive, Casper. We will meet in the east part of the building.
