CELEBRATION OF LIFE Aidan James McCroskey Beloved son, brother, grandson and friend Aidan James McCroskey passed away on March 15, 2017, in Casper, Wyoming. He was 18 years old. Aidan was a loving son to his parents, Hal and Wendy Jo McCroskey, and a best friend to his three siblings, Timmer, Sean (Meg) and Kyle McCroskey. He was loved by his extended family members and many friends, who considered him a bright, shining light in their lives. They include his grandparents Chuck and Joanie Dunlap, and Charlene Dunlap; uncle Jim (Wendy) Dunlap; great grandparents, Pat and Jim Welch; nephews, Carter and Greyson; many other cousins, aunts and uncles; and his godmother, Leslie Blythe (Mark Wilkinson). He also loved and was adored by his many family dogs and cats over the years. Aidan was preceded in death by his aunt, Nancy Haught; his uncle, Tim McCroskey; and his paternal grandparents, Louis and Halden Doyle McCroskey. Aidan was friendly, fun and loved to laugh; kind and considerate to every person he met; and a loyal and dedicated friend. He was a senior at Natrona County High School, where he was in the top 10 percent of his class academically. In high school, Aidan discovered he had a mad scientist's brain, an artist's soul and an explorer's heart. Accelerated academics at NCHS proved to be the perfect medium for Aidan's quick wit, unquenchable thirst for knowledge and fascination with minutia. International Baccalaureate classes fostered his passion for learning and gave him common ground for bonding with his peers. To meet the graduation requirement for fine arts, Aidan stumbled into a sculpture class and found that clay sang to him. This medium and the tutelage of Mr. Dennis Howell gave him the opportunity to create socially conscious art, which was recognized by a Blue Ribbon at the 2016 Wyoming High School State Art Fair. Outside of school, Aidan achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. From his first meeting as a Cub Scout Tiger in first grade to his Eagle Project on Muddy Mountain, Aidan embraced scouting and its commitment to building character through living in harmony with the natural world. Two NOLS month-long journeys into the Wyoming and Alaska wildernesses taught Aidan that harmony is found one mile, one meal and one moment at a time. Aidan also worked part-time for Dsasumo Restaurant, his co-workers helped raise him into the hardest worker and supported him in his academic endeavors by always keeping him fed. A celebration of life for Aidan is at 1 pm on Tuesday, March 21, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. To honor Aidan, the family asks that we all wear spring colors, his favorite was pink. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Natrona County High School with the memo line stating, "Aidan McCroskey Art Fund," to honor his passion for the arts.
