Adeline Giedd Murray was born on April 23, 1924 in Delmont, South Dakota to Ferdinand and Mathilde "Tillie" (Boettcher) Giedd. She was an only child. Adeline attended schools in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Wyoming. She graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class from Lusk High School, Lusk, Wyoming. She received a four-year scholarship to the University of Wyoming. Adeline graduated with a Bachelor of Secretarial Science degree from UW in 1948. She was a life member of Phi Gamma Nu. Adeline worked for Western Union in Cheyenne, Wyoming during her college years and for two years during World War II. She also worked as night chaperone of Hoyt Hall at UW while attending college for three years. Following graduation from UW she worked for Wilson Equipment and Supply in Cheyenne, Wyoming for two years and the Federal Housing Administration for two years, also at Cheyenne, Wyoming. She married Lawrence Gray Murray on April 21, 1951 in the First Baptist Church, Cheyenne, Wyoming. She had two children. Son James William was born at the Warren AFB hospital November 5, 1952. Son Thomas Andrew "Andy' was born at Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne, March 15, 1956. Her husband was in the Air Force at the time of the marriage, and was transferred to Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, Louisiana for 18 months prior to his discharge as a Staff Sergeant. His wife and son went with him. Following his discharge, Gray worked for a clothier for a year and then for Mountain Bell. He was transferred by Mountain Bell to Casper, Wyoming in February, 1959. Adeline worked for the First Baptist Church, Casper, Wyoming from August 16, 1986 to 2001, as secretary. She was a member of First Baptist from March 1959. Adeline was active in her church in women's work, Sunday school, choir, and as financial secretary. Services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, May 27, 2016 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery.
